William Sloss Van Fossen, M.D.

Born in a log cabin in Williams County, Ohio in 1877, educated at Tri-State College and Hillsdale College, graduated from Ohio Medical College, Columbus, Ohio, 1906, and practiced in Columbus for 44 years.

Co-founder of St. Clair Hospital and School of Nursing, Columbus, Ohio, active in practice at Grant Hospital, St. Anthony Hospital and served as consultant at Mt. Carmel, Mercy and Children's Hospital.

Developed, improved techniques for delicate eye, ear, nose and throat surgeries that earner him fame and recognition in the medical professions.

Dr. Van Fossen and his wife Katherine moved to Upper Arlington in 1964. They had five children - William, Jr., John, Mildred, Theodore, and Albert.
