John W. "Pat" Wuichet, Sr.

Inducted: 1997

Born in Dayton, Ohio. B.S. in Agriculture from Ohio State University in 1908. Owned Cedar Crest Farms near Dayton.

Returned to Ohio State in 1910 as professor of Animal Husbandry. Wuichets were 12th family to settle in Upper Arlington. In 1917 John chaired committee to plan and establish Upper Arlington's public school system.

Nationally known as swine breeder and judge. Judged at state fairs and expositions across the country. In 1930s was named assistant state agent of the Agricultural Adjustment Administration.

Loved sports, member of Ohio State's first gymnastics team. Played on Upper Arlington resident baseball team. Charter member of community's golf and tennis clubs.

John and his wife Ruth had three children - John, Jr., Lois Jeanette, and Tom P.
